After last week’s behind the scenes images, it is time to show you I-D Bohemia‘s Ex Nihilo in all its glory at Dinner By Design Calgary.
Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary | I-D Bohemia
Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary was a 2-day event that brought together Christina and 5 other Designers, who all designed distinctive tablescapes for attendees appreciate whilst enjoying cocktails and canapes on the first day, and then dinner on the second night. The event was a successful fundraiser organized by The Social Concierge for Alberta College of Art + Design and Contemporary Calgary. Over the past few weeks, we have featured Amanda Hamilton Interior Design, Alykhan Velji Designs, Nyla Free Designs Inc., Connie Young Design, and Corea Sotropa.
Firstly, a bit more about I-D Bohemia, who “creates inspiring and life-changing experiences and spaces built on community, well-being and beautiful living. Our diverse portfolio spans pop up dinner parties dressed in white, gala fundraisers and corporate soirees, evocative interiors, artful weddings, Christmas Shindigs, fashion, fine art and custom jewellery.”
Ex Nihilo
Christina explains the theme: “There was neither non-existence nor existence then; there was neither the realm of space nor the sky which is beyond. What stirred? Where?” – The Rig VedaShe continues: “We began with the art of Gary James Joynes | Clinker: photography|drawing|sculpture hybrids exploring the physicality and emotion of sound. Gary | Clinker shapes sand into defined patterns by manipulating pure and harmonic tones through a custom wave driver. The resulting waveforms “range from minimalist lines to decorative and complex arabesques reminiscent of Islamic architecture, Tibetan meditation gardens and Medieval manuscript illuminations.”“Transparent details link silence to stillness, clarity in sound to clear visuals. Salt and crystals echo sand and invoke elemental nature (salt is vital for animal life, and saltiness is a basic human taste.).” Christina of I-D Bohemia putting final touches to the tablescape. “The monolithic, white, draped cube-as-gallery, is a nod to London’s White Cube. The result is otherworldly – a contained landscape of sound and sensation; a temple for meditation, joy, and indulgence.”Part of the 5 course meal by Cocktails & Canapes.
Partners & Supporters for this awesome design were: FO Photography, Quantum Productions, Special Event Rentals, Gary James Joynes with Dc3 Art Projects, and OneWest.
After helping out with I-D Bohemia’s design and having photographed some of her previous events, we are beyond excited at the possibility of working with her on an Edmonton or Calgary wedding in the near future. Congratulations Christina on excellent execution of this design.
