After their wedding on 6th of September 2014 in Ottawa, Canada, the lovely Kathleen & Hassan had a very glamorous Great Gatsby and flamingos fete wedding reception at their residence for their close family & friends in Edmonton, Canada on 13th September 2014. Their wonderful florist, Wendy of Tickled Floral said:
“When I first met with Kathleen, immediately I wanted to provide her with floral arrangements and décor pieces that were as fun and elegant as she is!
The inspiration came from her love of vintage flamingos, so we based our colour palette on various shades of pink, green and white and went for a glamorous and whimsical take on the classic yard party. As Kathleen said “I want a Great Gatsby meets pink flamingos fete with wonderful scents, fine linens and shining crystals”. The flowers used were Gardenias, Hydrangea, Roses, Ranunculus, Hellebores, Snowberry, Hypericum Berry, Proteas, Amaranthus, and Eucalyptus.
Kathleen has a beautiful collection of vintage flamingo figurines that we used throughout the floral displays on the mantel and on various food stations throughout the home. They were a unique and unexpected touch and you couldn’t help but smile to see a flamingo peeking out of the arrangements.
For the tent, we wanted to create an outdoors feel, we draped fresh and fragrant garlands of 6 different kinds of eucalyptus and greenery from the beams. We had pink and green paper decorations as well as using over 200 paper lanterns in various colours and sizes, we created the walkway border leading guests from the house to the bar at the back of the yard. We repeated the effect over the outdoor pergola and added floral bunches throughout.”
