You know when you are looking for one thing and you find another that distracts you? Yea, that is what happened yesterday. A local business followed us on Twitter so I, Funmi, went to Google maps to find out their location and instead clocked Old Strathcona Antique Mall in the Google photos. Adrian, my sisters & close friends know that I love visiting antique shops and sometimes purchase from them. Here’s an example of one such purchase from the Newhaven Fleamarket in the UK.
I checked out Old Strathcona Antique Mall’s website and decided that I’d visit today to get more inspiration. After all, what better way to learn about our new country of residence than find out more about its history (excluding museums)? Boy, am I glad I did?! On my arrival, I sought permission and was granted it by the friendly staff before I started taking pictures. The mall has over 300 very interesting booths to peruse and purchase from so this is a very tiny selection of the items for sale. As you can imagine, their items for sale change on a daily basis due to their high quality so if you see anything you’d like in this post, I recommend that you get yourself there pronto!
White Star Line Trunk $79.95.
Love the font of Retropolitan; World Globe Organizer, $25. Sign says: “Opens up to hide valuables. If you misplace something, just ask “Where in the world is it?”” Ha! I love this because it reminded me, Funmi, of my childhood spent serving adult guests out of the larger version of this that housed my parents’ liquors.
Chrome & Gray Acrylic 1970s’ Table Lamp, $78; a small section of the cafe at the mall. How delightful is that wall?!
Silver Plate Teapot (as is), $12, Silver Plate Coffee Pot (as is) $12, Silver plate Cream, Sugar & Tray, $49.
Set of 4 Royal Doulton “Sherbrook” Cream Soup & Saucers, $62.
Orange serving bowls, $44.
1975 Sailfish $1,200.
One of the offices at the mall. Beyond cool!
The extensive collection of vintage vinyl records available for sale at the mall. This image was the 25th image of our 365 photo project.
Thanks to Betty, Bobby & the rest of the staff for your warm welcome. Adrian & I will be back very soon!
