Last week, the historic and impeccable hotel that is the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald announced that they were offering “100 rooms for $100 again”! This is part of their 100-year anniversary celebrations. Adrian and I thought we’d go check it out and tell you all about it. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it haha. Jokes aside, we needed a staycation and as we had covered several weddings and events there previously, we knew it would be a great little break.
Upon reserving our room, we were offered a complimentary upgrade to a king size bedroom as Adrian had joined their free “Fairmont President’s Club“, which we happily accepted. I should state here that the upgrade was possible because of availability of the larger room and as a nice perk of being their CLub member.
We visited on Saturday, November 7 and ours was a 5th floor room on the Jasper Avenue side of the hotel. The room was very well appointed and we completely forgot we were right next to Jasper Avenue. It was a true haven!
The view from our 5th floor room. This stay prompted Adrian to do his first TripAdvisor review as he really enjoyed it too. One of the many things he appreciated was the fact that the hotel provided a kettle separate from the coffee maker. You see, my Adrian loves his tea, and detests the taste of coffee so his experience of other hotels’ coffeemaker tea was very unpleasant for him.So how can you can get in on this celebration? Call the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald on 780.424.5181 to request the $100 / night rooms. The hotel confirmed that as of today, you can get $100 rooms on the following days November 15 / 19 /20/ 22 / 26 / 27/29, 2015 or December 4 / 6 / 7 / 10 / 11 / 13 / 14 / 17 / 18 /19 /20 / 21 /24 / 25 /26 / 27 / 28, 2015.
Whilst there, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Confederation Lounge’s menu was so affordable with equally attentive staff. In fact, I was unable to finish my meal of Coq au Vin as the portion was so generous; waste not, want not, my leftovers were a tasty lunch the following day.
What a great place to stay for those Bridal parties planning pamper days or Groom and his men?! Or you could just have a nice little staycation in the lead up to or right after Christmas. Either way, you’re onto a winning stay as all the staff were so lovely and welcoming too.
