Last night, Gemma, a freelance makeup artist and her friend, Matthew, celebrated their birthdays with a joint party at The Mason’s Arms in Kensal Green. Gemma celebrated 30 years whilst Matthew was heralding his 40th year so naturally, their chosen theme for the night was 1930s and 1940s! It was so much fun, all their guests got into the spirit by dressing to suit those eras. Natalia, Matthew’s girlfriend, surprised him by commissioning the amazing Michaela, Tobias, Livia & Kester from Swing Patrol to perform some Swing dances and teach their guests Swing dancing!
I went with our friends, Shirley & Dw; how glam does she look?!
Natalia told me that Matthew is forever pulling faces haha. You’ve been warned.
Gemma in blue welcoming guests.
Matthew & Natalia.
Sophie was one of the lovely guests and hers is a very interesting job, she hand sculpts costumes, realistic looking body parts and other bespoke pieces from silicone for the entertainment industry.
Gemma’s boyfriend, Chris, channeling in his inner 1940s gentleman.
Love these images of Gemma & Chris!
Livia from Swing Patrol’s suitably dramatic entrance hehe.
Kester introducing Michaela & Tobias’ 1920s Charleston dance to “Sister Kate” by The Ditty Bops, followed by Natalia fist pump in glee and Matthew’s surprise!
Sophie, her mum, Dianne (r) and her aunt, Jane (l).
Everyone was so beautiful; love how this couple held hands whilst they waited for dance instructions from Livia & Kester.
Livia & Kester showing the guests Swing dance moves; Livia explained that Swing dance was mainly developed between the 1920s and the 1940s. The concentration on the guests face is so funny.
Gemma looked stunning, like a true 1940s movie star in her blue outfit, pearls and curls. Told you their guests pulled out all the stops!
Rebecca & Eren look tres chic too.
Loved this lady’s outfit too, especially the hat.
Thanks to Gemma & Matthew for a wonderful party and to Shirley & Dw for been such wonderful hosts before we went to this party.
