Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary | Connie Young Design
Most people prefer to think outside of the box when designing event spaces or even rooms! Not Connie Young Design & its team; instead, they opted to celebrate the proverbial and literal box. They did so with great aplomb for their Dinner By Design Calgary installation!
Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary was a 2-day event that brought together Connie and 5 other Designers, who all designed distinctive tablescapes for attendees appreciate whilst enjoying cocktails and canapes on the first day, and then dinner on the second night. The event was a successful fundraiser organized by The Social Concierge for Alberta College of Art + Design and Contemporary Calgary. Over the last 3 weeks, we featured Amanda Hamilton Interior Design, Alykhan Velji Designs, and Nyla Free Designs Inc.
Thinking outside the box: Essentialism
Creative Director and Key Strategist Connie explained: “What is a box? Simplistic, elemental, essential. Positive and negative space, surface and void, interest in volume. Useful. Is it empty or full? Full, we believe. Designed with ultimate flexibility, within one module, with one utterly simple material, and around one principle idea. An elegant room that can transform into a utilitarian shelving system. A utilitarian system into an elegant room. Therefore, a multitude of possibilities. It is transportable. It is completely reusable and recyclable. Most of all, it is affordable. Defined and layered by a Modern Alpine aesthetic. The idea becomes familiar and indigenous. Simple construction materials cleverly detailed into a beautifully elegant living environment. Relevant, yet enchanting. All within a box, but created outside of it.”Could you imagine something similar to this for a very intimate Edmonton or Calgary event or wedding? The design as a whole or just elements of it. It would be wonderful!
